Day 6 — What Really Happens When You Send Bitcoin?

When you send Bitcoin on Bitcoin, you are not “sending coins” like a bank transfer.

You are updating a public ledger.

Here’s the real story in simple terms:

🔹 1. You create a request
Your wallet says:
“I want to send 0.1 BTC to this address.”

🔹 2. You prove ownership
Your wallet uses your private key to digitally sign the transaction.
This signature proves you own those coins — without revealing your private key.

No signature = no valid transaction.

🔹 3. The network checks everything
The transaction is sent to thousands of computers (nodes).
They verify:

Is the signature valid?

Has this Bitcoin already been spent?

Are all rules followed?

If valid → it enters the waiting area (mempool).

🔹 4. Miners add it to a block
Miners choose transactions (usually higher fee first)
and include them in the next block.

🔹 5. Confirmations begin
Once the block is added:
Your transaction has 1 confirmation.

Each new block added after that increases security.
After about 6 confirmations, it’s considered very safe.

Your wallet shows 1 BTC — but technically you have two separate pieces.
