We are now inviting feedback on the Amharic translations through a validation session.

As part of the AKOFADA initiatives, the Behavioral Change Campaign team at Shega, together with our partners, has been working across regions to build trust, confidence, and everyday use of digital financial services. Through local language radio programs, community roadshows, and direct teaching sessions, the campaign meets people where they are and helps make digital finance simple and practical for real daily needs. Over the weekend, this work continued in West Oromia, where an organized, vibrant, and colorful DFS community edutainment event took place in the center of Ambo. Women remain significantly underrepresented in Ethiopia’s financial landscape. Eighty-six percent of women lack a mobile money account, and 78% have no digital financial service (DFS) account, limiting their ability to participate in and benefit from the digital economy. Expanding women’s access to digital finance could lift 700,000 people out of poverty and add USD 5.3 billion to Ethiopia’s GDP — a powerful reminder that inclusion drives both equality and growth.
